WHAT IS REVERSE
ENGINEERING?
|
| Reverse
Engineering is best described as the poor man's debugging. This is not
to say that programming and debugging is only for smart people, but reverse
engineering compared to Programming is analoguous to Linux compared to
Unix. When Unix began [and somewhat still true today] it was an expensive
OS used mainly by large corporations or Universities. However, thanks to
Linus T., the rest of us now have a much more affordable [free] flavor
of Unix with which to learn from.
The
same holds true for Reverse Engineering.
Reverse
Engineering is *also* an art form in it's own right.
The
enigineers [also callled carackers] are proficient in many skills normally
reserved for programers. Reading [and writing binary, hexadecimal, assembly
just to name a few. |
