IS WINDOWS '95 AN
OS?
|
Although,
with the advent of 32-bit processing and pre-emptive multitasking, Microsoft
claims that Windows '95 & '98 are Operating Systems. This is not so.
They
are still shells over DOS, just as Windows was originally. Sure, maybe
they donot need Autoexec.bat to load or run, but if you take away DOS,
Windows '95 ['98] will NOT run. Simple as that. |

WHAT IS A SHELL?
|
| Let's
use a kernel of popcorn before it's popped as a reference, here.
If Windows
has crashed on you lately, your bound to probably have seen some form of
vague reference to something called a Kernel, anyway. Maybe "...Kernel32
caused a General Protection Fault in Kernel32.dll..." or something similar.
Well,
let's get back to that kernel of un-popped corn.
